Welcome to Season 2025! I hope you are as excited as we are to kick off another football and netball season. We are eager to build on last year’s successes and take the necessary steps to bring home the ultimate prizes in 2025
Everyone at the club has been hard at work throughout the pre-season and we are working solidly toward our first game on Saturday 5th of April when we meet Cora Lynn at the nest in Round 1
There’s been a lot happening throughout the off season including the long-awaited sign off our pavilion upgrade, meeting/social rooms and ground redevelopment which will commence in October this year and providing all goes well we will be enjoying new facilities and new surface by the commencement of the 2026 season. There was a lot of discussion between football netball and cricket and the end result will be great for all clubs who use the facility as well as providing great opportunities for us to enhance our already great offering to members, supporters and sponsors. I will share more on these works over the coming months as I have a lot to share in this season update!
Another highlight is the adoption of our new Tooradin Football Netball Club logo which is the result of some great work by both committees in particular Ainsley Barwise and Nick Pouki who were able to finalise the design concepts and present us with a fantastic brand that will carry us united well into the future. This fresh new design is now available on all new merchandise and apparel and looks fantastic.
We welcome two new committee members in Luke Spain and Matt Ahern who both bring experience and energy to the committee for 2025. I would also like to thank Cam Devenny and Fran Genoni for their tenure on the committee last year, Fran will continue to run the best canteen in the competition and I’m certain that she and her team of volunteers will continue to provide the magnificent fare for which we are famous.
From a coaching perspective, Jordan Kelly is again at the helm, and Nick Pouki will continue as Development Coach, following three consecutive grand final appearances.
Other members of the coaching team, Daniel Stafford, Colin Elkins, Matt Buntine, Stew Scanlon and the addition of Ben Corrie who joins us in the senior coaching group as well as taking on the junior club transition role. David Worrall moves to the under 18’s coaching role this year after a successful 2024 with our U/16s and John Alexander takes on the U/16 coaching role having coached our junior division Under 14 team to success over the past few seasons.
Our football operations team has been busy with recruitment and retention, and we welcome Shane Savage, Jack Flannery and Travis Davis to the club while we also welcome the return of Ryan Eaton and Andrew Dean to complement our already competitive list from 2024.
Our Veterans Team (35+) are also preparing for the season ahead. Their season commences on Sunday 6th of April at home against Devon Meadows. We are always looking for players to join the group so if you have the itch and feel like dusting off the boots let us know!!
We have a busy social calendar lined up, with many events throughout the year. One highlight is our Past Players and Members Day, scheduled for August 2nd, where we’ll celebrate the achievements of our 1975 and 1985 premiership teams and further inspire our current group to add a 2025 flag to our long history of success.
We have scheduled practice matches over the coming weeks at Gembrook on Saturday 15th March and Crib Point (venue TBC) on Saturday 22nd March before we enjoy a week off to consolidate and launch into our 2025 campaigns.
A reminder that both rounds 1 and 2 are home games and it would be great to see as many of our members and supporters get along and support us with the momentum of the new year which has the promise of being so much for the club.
It’s not unreasonable to say that the time for expectation is upon us, and we need all hands-on deck to make it happen.
Our Members’ Drive will be held on Monday 17th March, and your 2025 membership will be available for purchase in the online store from that date. Be sure to sign up early and support the club as we fly higher in 2025!
As always please don’t hesitate to contact me directly should you have any questions on my number below.
Thank you once again for your continued support and passion for our club. I look forward to seeing you at the footy and sharing another exciting season together!
