Tooradin-Dalmore 8.11-59 vs Cranbourne Gold 1.1-7

In our last game for the season, our under 12’s played host to Cranbourne at Rutter Park. With the weather looking ominous we started off the first quarter kicking with the wind. The boys played great team football getting in the packs and fighting hard for the ball to be up 2 goals 4 to 0 at quarter time.

The second quarter showed some excellent ball skills by the boys as the ball was wet and the contest was heating up as both teams only scored 1 goal 1 each heading into the half time break.

In the third quarter our boys turned up the heat and applied fantastic pressure to kick away with a further 4 goals 4 with Cranbourne unable to add to their score.

With the rain pouring down in the final quarter it made for a scrappy end to the game with all players showing their toughness to play it out in style with another 1 goal 2 added to our score and the Seagulls taking home the win 8.11.59 to Cranbourne’ss 1.1.7.

Goal kickers for the game were Josh Iannantuono 3, Aaron Knight 2, and 1 each to Foti Ploudias, Koby Peck and Jack Mannix. Best players were Ashtyn Paku, Aaron Knight, Cooper Simpson, Jack Mannix and Jordan Bury

The awards going to Jordan Bury, Jesse Sumner, Merrick Stewart-Wells, Josh Iannantuono, Matthew Huxtable, Aaron Knight, Bevan Bell and Koby Peck.

Pakenham Blue 9.9-63 vs Tooradin-Dalmore 2.3-15

The final game of the 2018 season saw Tooradin Seagulls taking on Pakenham Blue.

With a howling cross breeze the toss was important and our game day captains, Brodie Matthews and Liam Simpson didn’t let us down.

Our first quarters haven’t produced many scores this season but with plenty of midfield clearances from Jesse Craven and Cooper Bassett we were able to attack early. Charlie Shinners provided great run off half back and combined with our wings to keep the ball in the Tooradin half of the ground. Even with the wind scoring was difficult and it took some smart play from Jai Williams to hit the scoreboard for the seagulls. Not to be outdone Jordan Boyd moved from half back to the forward line and was able to snap truly to give Tooradin a 2 goal lead at the end of the quarter.

Pakenham in the second term were full of run and their forwards were able to take advantage of their height and size and put on three unanswered goals. Our backline never dropped their heads and as they’ve done all season, kept the opposition from scoring on multiple occasions.

With 2 players injured and off for the remainder of the game and no bench, the teams was challenged in the second half. Multiple entries into our forward line didn’t produce any goals and against the wind Pakenham was able to score and setup a three quarter time lead that would prove difficult to overcome.

The last quarter was played in even colder & wet conditions than the start of the match but the team continued to fight till the final siren. Brodie Campbell and Tyler Kirkbride finished the season of with great performances, and both Brodie Matthews and Liam Simpson playing their 100th games fought tirelessly all day.

Goals Jai Williams 1, Jordan Boyd 1

The club is proud of the team and its efforts this season and we look forward to seeing them improve further next year.

Thanks to our coaches and support staff for helping guide the boys all season. And massive thank you to our families, getting the boys to training and games each week and their assistance on game days.

Go Seagulls.

Parkmore 21.15-141 vs Tooradin-Dalmore 2.1-13

On Sunday the under 14’s took on Parkmore at their home ground in terrible conditions we had wind, rain and it was absolutely freezing!

We knew going into this game was going to be tough as they are a very strong side. Playing the field with only 15 players due to injuries the boys all tried their hardest and they managed to score 2 goals and a point. They all still showed some good skills and played so well considering the weather condition and 3 men short. We are lucky enough to have another game next week in a final and we all wish the boys the best of luck and hope they all fight and show how much they have improved throughout the season. Good Luck Boys!!

Berwick Springs Blue 8.4-52 vs Tooradin-Dalmore 4.8-32

Tooradin travelled this week to Berwick Springs home ground to face the second on the ladder Titans.

With a strong wind pushing across the ground kicking with the wind in the first quarter would be an advantage. After winning the toss the midfield started well and sent the ball into attack on numerous occasions. Although we had the majority of the play it wasn’t until returning midfielder Jesse Craven took a mark directly in front that we registered our first goal.

The second quarter was all Berwick Springs and with the wind and quick accurate ball movement, we soon found ourselves 4 goals down at half time.

The second half was a tight contest. Tooradin midfielders Jesse Craven, Cooper Bassett and Brodie Campbell all started to get on top of their respective opponents. Our forwards continued to present up at the ball carrier and worked equally hard with their defensive pressure. Goals to Jesse Craven and a great mark and goal from Tait Missen kept the Seagulls in striking distance.

Tooradin’s backline was to be tested in the last term and to their credit they fought hard all quarter and limited the opportunities that the Titans had with the wind. With continued run from the midfield Tooradin drove the ball into its forward 50 against the wind. The forwards again applied great defensive pressure which resulted in a strong mark to Anthony Mirauta who goaled against the flow of play.

In the end Berwick Springs accuracy was the difference but Tooradin gave a strong account of themselves against quality opposition.

Goals Anthony Mirauta 2, Jesse Craven 2, Tait Missen 1.

The boys slowed down a bit in the 3rd but came back strong in the 4th with Ben kicking a quick 2 goals to put us back in the game keeping Endeavour Hills scoreless, Tadhg kicking our 3rd goal for the quarter leaving us down by 14 points. Tooradin-Dalmore 3.7-25 vs Koo Wee Rup 5.4-34

On Sunday the under 12’s hosted local town rivals Koo Wee Rup at Rutter Park. With Koo Wee sitting on top of the ladder the boys knew they had to play their hardest to give us a chance against them. In a slow start for the Seagulls, we only managed a behind in the first quarter with Koo Wee putting 2 goals 1 on the board. In a tight and hard fought second quarter both sides kicked a goal with Tooradin adding 9 points to our score to go into half time 9 points down.

With Koo Wee applying pressure in the third quarter our boys played some great footy and our defence showed them what we can do, blocking their attempts and giving them few opportunities to score. They did however add 1 goal 3 to their tally and we went into 3/4 time 18 points down. With our spirits up the boys went out and fired off early with determination and great team work to kick 2 goals 3 to their 1 with Tooradin only being 2 points down at one stage throughout the final quarter.

Endeavour Hills 6.5-41 vs Tooradin-Dalmore 3.5-23

The U13 boys travelled to Endeavour Hills on Sunday and having played two weeks of strong contested football, the expectation of further improvement was high. The first half saw Endeavour Hills switched on and through quick ball movement put on 2 early goals.

The Tooradin backline has grown greatly this season and again they worked well to restrict the oppositions scoring opportunities. Tooradin’s midfield started to get first use of the ball late in the half and goals from Anthony Mirauta and Tait Missen, saw the Seagulls with a small halftime lead.

The third quarter again was a struggle for the team and this is an area that requires more focus as the season progresses. Endeavour Hills had more numbers around the ball at stoppages and were able to capitalise on their forward 50 entries.

The last term was hard fought and when an early Endeavour Hills goal put them 3 goals up the challenge was ahead of the team. The midfield fought hard with multiple centre clearance wins and the backline worked to restrict any further scoring. A quick snap from Charlie Shinners reduced the margin but it wasn’t enough and Endeavour Hills ran out winners on the day.

Goals: Anthony Mirauta 1, Tait Missen 1, Charlie Shinners 1.

Tooradin-Dalmore 13.14-92 vs Berwick Blue 3.2-20

What an amazing day with the sun shining down at Rutter Park Memorial Reserve, and what a show our boys from Tooradin put on.

It was a spirited win by our under 17’s with second spot up for grabs.

Just when Berwick Blue thought they could have their way, we put a stop to it right there and then kicking 5 goals in the first quarter to Berwick only kicking a behind, which set the standard for the game. It was a brilliant effort by Matthew Birnie kicking all our 5 goals in the first quarter.

Berwick never even looked like they were in it, as we ran right over the top of them right to the end with an amazing team effort.

Matthew Birnie ended the game with 7 goals, Joseph Spano on 2 goals, Cian O’Riordan, Robert Loudon, Max Kendell and Jack Jenkins kicking 1 goal each.

Our best players for the day where Matthew Birnie, Benjamin Peters, Joey Spano and Cian O’Riordan.

Lyndhurt Blue 0.1-1 vs Tooradin-Dalmore 3.6-24

On a very windy afternoon for footy our boy’s and girl’s came to the game with one thing in mind, a win.

With everyone playing their roles it was a pleasure to watch all play with respect and courage in tough circumstances.

We had the ball in our hands for most of the game and goals were kicked by Lenny Goldberg, Bevan Bell and Kasy Deren.

In one the best games I have seen a junior play Kasy was inspirational to all and played like it was his last game. Maybe it had something to do with his dad turning up out of the blue after a massive couple of weeks but what an impact he had. Awesome effort Kasy!

We had standout players all over the park Curtis Watts, Bevan Bell, Kasy Deren, Lenny Goldberg, Jett Lowndes, Summah Boyd, Daniel Martin, and Sebastian Cooke. I could name them all but it was a fantastic win, to give us 2 on the trot.

We all need to turn up to training and really work hard we don’t have long to go now so let’s keep this momentum rolling on to next week.

So proud of all of you keep working hard and enjoy what we have left.

Tooradin-Dalmore 3.2-20 vs Cora Lynn 3.4-22

Cora Lynn came out and kicked the first and only major of the first quarter and our boys knew we were up for a challenge. With the wind going our way in the second we had the momentum and got on the board with our first goal kicked by Cooper Simpson. With our strong midfield and defence we managed to keep the cobras scoreless for the quarter and went into the half time break 2 points down. Our second half saw some awesome tackles and great tap outs with all the boys getting in and giving their all. Cora Lyn managed 2 goals to put them in front by 14 points. Going into the final quarter we once again stood strong and defended well against their runs forward to keep them to another scoreless quarter and with a couple of great snaps by Josh Iannantuono we were back in it only to be beaten by the clock and falling 2 points short.

Tooradin U13’s took on ladder leader Narre Warren Sth Lions on Sunday at their home ground. A really fast start to the game saw the Seagulls hit the scoreboard early via Liam Simpson, who’s long range snap cleared the defenders and bounced through, followed by a strong roving goal from Charlie Shinners.

The game in the first half was played at a rapid pace and the Tooradin team tackled fiercely and was first to the ball. At the half time break the teams were evenly matched and the boys were well positioned to cause an upset.

The third qtr showed why the lions are top of the table as their fast ball movement and accuracy by foot, saw them kick clear and set up a handy 2 goals break.

The Tooradin team continued to fight right to the last minute and should take a lot of pride from their endeavour all game. The improvement in the past 3 weeks has been great to see.

Congratulations to Vasili Papas, Josh Shipton and Charlie Shinners who were recognised by the coaches for their efforts during the game.

Goals: Liam Simpson and Charlie Shinners

Tooradin-Dalmore 2.2-14 vs Berwick Blue 11.9-75

On Sunday, our Under 14’s took on Berwick Blue at home. We knew this game was going to be a hard one as we have played these boys before and they are a good team.

The boys came out running through 2 very important banners today as we had Brodie Simpson doing his 100 games and Eden Genoni and James Ryan doing there 50 games. Congratulations to all these boys, it’s a fantastic achievement.

We came out strong kicking the first goal of the quarter by Jed Ashurst which was fantastic made them all lift and we continued to play great football with strong tackles and amazing effort by all. Berwick came back and kicked a goal and we went in 2nd quarter only a few points down. Kicking another goal in 2nd quarter by Ben Sellings, and all the boys still showing lots of effort.

Half time and the 3rd and 4th quarter didn’t go our way although we still continued the effort it just wasn’t happening and we didn’t get the win we wanted. Boys be happy with yourselves and continue to show you want to be out there and the results will show.

Goal kicker – Jed Ashurst and Ben Sellings

Best Players- Tyler Evans, Ryley Watts, Ben Sellings, Brock Marshall and Fergus Goldberg.

Tooradin-Dalmore 10.12-72 vs Pakenham Blue 4.0-24

It was a cold, wet and windy start to the day. Our boys opened the flood gates and came out fighting like a storm. They played hard at the ball, despite the wet ground making the ball wet and hard to control. Their improvement in their skill levels has gone to great heights since the first round and they left the Pakenham Blue boys pointless in the first and 3rd quarter.

Tooradin played a game of skill and showed amazing teamwork and taking out the win to celebrate their teammates 50th game in style with a 10 goals 12 behinds game.

Congratulations to Austin Hernaut who celebrated his 50th game at Tooradin.

Well done to the Tooradin Seagulls flying high and proud.

Our goal kickers on 2 goals each Matthew Birnie and Cian O’Riordan.

One goal apiece to James Cross, Keith Piccardt-Corn, Robert Loudon, Benjamin Peters, Corey Potrich and Joseph Spano.

Tooradin-Dalmore 4.12-36 vs Nar Nar Goon 1.0-6

An absolute ripper of a game today with the team tasting success for the first time this year and enjoy it they did. The ball was in our forward half for 90% of the game and goals were kicked regularly with Summah Boyd bagging her first major. Every one of us played with intent and pressure for the whole game so proud of this team.

Standout performers were hard to pick but Sebastian Cooke, Kasy Deren, Lenny Goldberg, Curtis Watts, Jack Sherer, Summah Boyd and Bevan Bell all had outstanding games.

With no game this week I urge all to get to training Wednesday night and work hard to continue our development. Great win!

North Dandenong 4.1-25 vs Tooradin-Dalmore 14.9-93

Under 12’s travelled to Tatterson Park to take on North Dandenong for the second time this season. With the opposition needing a few players our boys stepped up and donned the jersey for them to make a game out of it.  We started the game on fire kicking a whopping 5 goals straight to 1 point. We went on to kick 3 more in the second taking us to a 53 point lead into half time. By mixing up the players positions we let North Dandenong sneak up a bit with them adding 4 goals (with Jordan Bury snapping a quick one while playing for them!) to our 1 in the third. We came home strong with 5 goals 2 in the last to take home the win!

Goals kickers were Cooper Simpson 3, Jordan Bury 2, Hunter Cairns 2, Harry Hardy 1, Aaron Knight 1, Brodie Alsemgeest 1, and with their first goals Jakob Martin 1 and Oakley Bourke with a bag of 3!

Berwick White 15.13-103 vs Tooradin-Dalmore 3.4-22

On Sunday, Tooradin Dalmore travelled to play Berwick White at Clyde Rd Reserve.

We had one of our best first quarters with a consistent effort from all the team. Our forward entries were driven by great work in the midfield and we hit the scoreboard through Tyler Kirkbride converting from in front. This form continued in the second term as we applied the principles of playing in front and constant forward pressure, resulting in goals to Jesse Craven and Panos Papas.

After half time we disappointingly went away from the things that had placed us in such a good position to possibly walk away with a win. The team kept fighting to get back in the match but Berwick were too strong in the end. We still need to find the 4 quarter effort that’s required to defeat Div 1 teams. We’ll take the week off and enjoy a break to refresh minds and bodies and hopefully come back ready and prepared for our next game.

Goals: Tyler Kirkbride 1, Jesse Craven 1, Panos Papas 1.

Beaconsfield Gold 15.17-107 vs Tooradin-Dalmore 2.4-16

On Sunday, our Under 14’s took on Beaconsfield at their home ground. We were hoping for a win as we had Bailey Ray playing his 100th game.

The boys had a slow start letting Beaconsfield kick a quick 5 goals to our nothing. The boys continued to keep their heads up with a few great tackles but unfortunately they just didn’t play to their ability and had no talk on the field which definitely showed on the score board. Coach Paul Ray gave them a good speech at half time with them then coming out and kicking the 1st goal of 3rd quarter. Unfortunately this didn’t continue and it just wasn’t our day. Boys with determination and some team bonding it will start to show on the score board. Congratulations again to Bailey Ray playing his 100th game couldn’t get the win but he played a great game.

Best Players – Ben Sellings, Kyle Hernaut, Kye De Little and Ryley Watts.

Tooradin-Dalmore 6.4-40 vs Pakenham Blue 9.7-61

Tooradin U13’s hosted Pakenham Blue at Rutter Park on Sunday. The team had a solid training session during the week and had worked on areas of their game the coaches felt required improvement.

From the first bounce the team was committed to each contest and with fast ball movement and repeat inside 50’s, Tooradin took the lead into the qtr. time break.

Pakenham responded in the second quarter and although they outscored us, we competed well and the midfield continued to provide opportunities to the forwards.

The second half again was a close contest and our backline continued to play some of their best footy for the season. Whilst recent games have been tough, today showed the improvement that has been gained from playing quality opposition.

Players have been given differing roles this season and it was positive to see players like Anthony Mirauta taking strong marks all around the ground, Panos Papas laying tackles in defence and across the forward line and Josh Shipton taking to his role in defence to a new level.

Goals: Brodie Matthews 2, Anthony Mirauta 2, Tait Missen 1, Panos Papas 1.

Tooradin-Dalmore 3.1-19 vs Nar Nar Goon 6.9-45

Today we hosted Nar Nar Goon at home at Rutter Park. With the rain drizzling down throughout the game our boys were ready for a wet hard contested match. With Nar Nar Goon scoring 5 points our defence played hard to stop them getting a goal in the first quarter. Opening our score tally was Foti Ploudias in the forward line and kicking the first goal for the Seagulls. Unfortunately they got away from us in the second and added 4 goals 2 to their score. The boys showed great determination with Koby Peck attacking the ball all game. Hunter Cairns and Jordan Bury running from end to end working hard with Cooper Simpson and Ashtyn Paku in and under frequently winning the ball from congested packs and breaking away propel the ball forward to their team mates. The third quarter saw Cooper Simpson kicking our second goal bursting through a pack to snap truly. With the weather turning nasty and our backs to the wall kicking into the wind the boys never gave up producing a 4 quarter team effort resulting in Jesse Sumner kicking our third goal for the game from a set shot.

Beaconsfield Gold 12.7-79 vs Tooradin-Dalmore 1.2-8

Tooradin U13’s were away to Beaconsfield Gold on Sunday, in what was expected to be a tough assignment.

The team started well with some quick clearances and opportunities to score early in the first term. Beaconsfield skipped away to an early lead but we managed to draw a goal back courtesy of Jessie Ginger who converted from directly in front after taking a strong mark.

At the half time break we were down on the scoreboard but our intent was strong.

The second half challenged the teams resolve to continue to chase a very skillfull opposition, who’s ball movement through the middle gave them numerous inside 50’s.

The Tooradin backline worked tirelessly all match and the midfield ran, tackled and put their bodies on the line for their teammates. When the opportunity presented itself the forwards had to work hard to hit the scoreboard against a quality Beaconsfield backline.

The end result was a victory to Beaconsfield but valuable lessons can be taken away from the contest. We look forward to next week’s challenge.

Pakenham Blue 2.2-14 vs Tooradin-Dalmore 12.18-90

We ventured down to Pakenham on Sunday to take on the boys of Pakenham Blue.

Unfortunately we only fielded 17 players; however the boys still managed to put in a good strong performance and come away with a strong win.

Without an interchange bench they still managed to play strong footy right to the final siren, an amazing effort. It was a good strong all round performance by the Tooradin boys. They worked amazingly well as a team and everyone played a great role in sealing our second win.

Some amazing kicking skills from our forwards with Max Kendell being our highest goal scorer, followed by some great kicking by Luke Townsend, between them kicking 9 goals of our 12.

Our goal kickers with an amazing 6 goals by Max Kendell, 3 goals Luke Townsend and 1 goal each to Cian O’Riordan, Jack Jenkins and Matthew Birnie. Keep up the great work. Go Seagulls.
