Tooradin under 12’s started their new season today in wet and windy conditions at Rutter Park, Tooradin. With our two co captains Aaron Knight and Cooper Simpson leading the charge we took on a shorthanded North Dandenong team. But with great sportsmanship our players bolstered their ranks so a game could be played. Our team connected well and put weeks of training into action in a one sided match. Congratulations to Matthew Huxtable on playing his 50th game for the Seagulls kicking 1 goal.
Other goal scores were Aaron Knight 3, Cooper Simpson 3, Jay Petersen 2, Jordan Bury 2, Ashtyn Paku 2, Lachlan Plant 2, Merrick Stewart-Wells 1, Foti Ploudias 1 and with his first goal of his career, Brodie Alsemgeest.
Lyndhurst 0.0-0 vs Tooradin-Dalmore 6.11-47
Our season opener away to Lyndhurst was played in true footy conditions; wet, windy and with a muddy centre square. With 5 new faces and a new coach, the team was keen to put their preseason learnings into practice.
It was a solid contest from the first bounce with new and old players combining to score early and set the tone for the remainder of the match. Lyndhurst fought valiantly all game and the Tooradin players were constantly working hard to gain possession from the stoppages and in contested play. Today’s performance was a true team effort and it was great to see the level of enjoyment the boys had in their first match back.
Goals: Anthony Mirauta 3, Vasili Papas 1, Charlie Shinners 1, Jesse Craven 1.
Tooradin-Dalmore 4.2-26 vs Beaconsfield Gold 4.12-36
Round 1 well what a day to start back at footy… rain wind you name it Melbourne had it all.
Today our under 14’s took on Beaconsfield Gold, the boys came out strong and showed determination and showed they were eager to play football. First goal of the game was kicked by Ben Sellings, this gave the boys a nice confidence boost to then kick the next goal by Jayden Govaars. The rain continued to pour down but we kept on going. We had quiet 2nd quarter letting Beaconsfield kick 9 behinds. The 3rd quarter we came back with 2 more goals, 1 by Ryan Ilbery and another one to Jayden Govaars. Unfortunately Beaconsfield came back at us in 4th winning by 10 points. Coach Paul Ray was happy with boys’ effort and hoping for a win next week.
